Ritorya Tamilo

Auckland and Baradene College centre Ritorya Tamilo joins the BNZ Kāhu for the 2023 Tauihi season as a development player.

The 18 year-old has enjoyed a stunning past twelve months representing New Zealand on three international campaigns.

Most recently she played for the Tall Ferns on their European tour in June, debuting against European champions Serbia in Belgrade.

Ritorya played at two international tournaments for New Zealand in 2022. At the FIBA U16 Asian Championship she averaged 6.7 points and 6.7 rebounds as New Zealand finished fourth to qualify for the U17 World Cup.

At the U17 World Cup in Hungary she finished as the tournaments leading shot blocker averaging 3.1 blocks per game. The 192 cm centre was also the team’s leading rebounder claiming 7.9 boards per game to finish 14th overall in that statistical category while also scoring 6.4 points per game.

Ritorya will play in Tauihi ’23 as an amateur to preserve her American collegiate eligibility.
