Northern Kāhu are delighted to announce the signing of Olivia Berry for the upcoming Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa season.
The 167cm combo-guard becomes the second Rangitoto College alumni to sign for the Kāhu.
She played at Rangitoto with Kāhu teammate Jaycin Tini and Tall Ferns Ella Fotu, Brooke Blair and Penina Davidson.
Following high school Olivia played one year in Canada at the University of Calgary (2015-16).
Away from basketball Academia is Olivia’s passion.
She is currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Theology having already acquired a Bachelor of Arts Double Major in Psychology and Criminology, an Honours degree in Criminology, and a Graduate Diploma in English.
On court Olivia is looking forward to testing herself in the Northern Kāhu environment.
“I’m excited to be training alongside Micaela Cocks who I have never played with and playing alongside some of the best players in the country.
“I’m also enjoying having access to really good coaching, as we have a whole team of them which I am unused to. I’m really excited to have more skills focused trainings to help my development.
Olivia’s hopes and aims for the coming season are very simple.
“I don’t really have a set goal for this season as I’m unsure what my future career is looking like.
“I just want to play, have fun, get better and make the most of it.”
Aspirations that all at Kāhu can relate to.
Berry joins Micaela Cocks, Tera Reed, Krystal Leger-Walker, Tahlia Tupaea, Jazz Kailahi-Fulu, Jaycin Tini and Ash Kelman-Poto as announced Kāhu signings. More players announcements will follow in the coming weeks.
The Kāhu play their first home game, against Tokomanawa Queens at Franklin Pool & Leisure Centre on Monday July 4. Secure your membership here!
