JAYCIN TINI ADDED TO THE NORTHERN KĀHU LINEUP

Northern Kāhu are delighted to announce the signing of Jaycin Tini for the upcoming Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa season.



Jaycin is the eldest daughter of Kāhu Head Coach Jody Cameron and in a good omen for the team and supporters the last time mum coached daughter, in 2014, Harbour Breeze were crowned National Champions!


“I am excited about the new Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa league and opportunity to play at home in front of family and the local basketball community.”


The former Rangitoto College standout spent four years on a basketball scholarship in the States, graduating from the College of Idaho in 2017.


Injuries interrupted her career immediately after college but admits watching the Breeze win the 2019 WBC Championship was a huge stimulus in her desire to once again play at a high level.


“I felt I wanted to be part of that and it gave me the spur to focus on my rehabilitation. I signed to play for Gold Coast Rollers for the 2020 Queensland Basketball League (QBL) but Covid forced the cancellation of the League.”


With 2021 also a Covid interrupted year Jaycin is relishing the prospect of once again playing on the national stage.


“I’m really motivated to be part of something better for women’s basketball, playing with and against some of best players New Zealand has produced. I’m looking forward to the season getting underway”


Tini joins Micaela Cocks, Tera Reed, Tahlia Tupaea, Jazz Kailahi-Fulu, Ash Kelman-Poto and Krystal Leger-Walker as announced Kāhu signings. More players announcements will follow in the coming weeks.
